Ways to prepare and stay safe as flood, fire and extreme heat season approaches

Emergency Preparedness Week is May 7-13 –

Take a moment to ensure you and your family are prepared for an emergency

Posted May 11th,2023

As we move from spring into summer and temperatures rise, CLBC is reminding individuals and families about resources to help prepare for emergency situations caused by flooding, wildfires and extremely high temperatures.

We want to help ensure the individuals we serve are prepared and understand who to connect with. If you or your loved one live in a CLBC-funded staffed home or home share, the home is required to have an emergency plan to support individuals in an emergency.

It’s also important for individuals and families to take time to get ready for emergencies and have their own plan in place. Being aware and prepared is the key to staying safe.

Here are activities that you can do to prepare at home:

For flooding:

For wildfires:

For extreme heat:

We hope you will remain unaffected by any emergency situations. However, if you have to be evacuated from your home, please follow the instructions provided by your local emergency services centres. If you require support at your place of evacuation, please contact your local CLBC office in your home community.

Please also consider taking the time now to add your local CLBC office phone number to your plan.

You can find a full list of CLBC offices and contact information here.
